Ignoring the website itself, it's an interesting point. I work on photonics research and the range of equipment needed all usually from different stores is significant. It's clear at this point, it's not unified enough a field, nor mainstream enough a research area, whereby people have decided to stock all the key components.
The UI covers itself on a large screen with no way of viewing what's underneath, not great
