If the only parts the user can access are highly qualified, restricted portions of the OS, a/o a non-Unixlike UI, does it really matter that Unix technically underlies Android?
Enlighten me, is android userland an abomination for some java runtime only? OR is this a set of binary interfaces I could even reasonably code in assembly?
