I have a stack of cassettes that came with a TI-99/4A I bought. 4 are 1978-1983 Realistic C-60s with what look like homebrew games. I wonder what "NAME THAT BONE" is all about. 1 is a 1973-1977 Realistic C-90, highlights include "CHECK BOOK" (identity theft ahoy!) and "LUNAR LANDER"
Edit: here you go, source code for "NAME THAT BONE".
I recently walked past a destroyed cassette tape on the side of the road which was a blast from the past. I got to show my kids what they looked like and explain that you’d see them like that all the time.
Very cool. I really need to get back into recording to my cassettes. It was a lot of fun just as a way to explore music and then burn what I liked into a fun format. This project has not gotten a lot of love from me since some life changes but this is what I was using to generate printable J-Cards from my navidrome instance.
Cool. Just checked for the tape I have in a drawer within arms reach: a BASF Chrome II from sometime between 1997 and 2000. There's a techno live set from the early aughts on it, that's the only thing I know about it lol
TDK C-90 10-packs were my favourites as a teenager in the 80s in Australia. And for an extra dose of nostalgia, here is the "TDK does amazing things" ad from 1984.
I got really into this design aesthetic a while ago. Once you recognize it, you see it more and more. Some examples/sources:
- amazing animation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9DfSCk-6Ko
- IG account of VHS cassettes: https://www.instagram.com/blanktapebingo/
- Product launch: https://www.lux.camera/meet-orion/
- product page I made using the style: https://criticalmoments.io
That animation is a masterpiece, just like the the original designs themselves! Thank you for sharing.
Amazing

ah, to live in an era where one could freely type an em dash every two sentences

TDK SA C-90 were my favorites - excellent sound quality and durability, not too expensive.
